Titanium was first discovered in 1791 by William Gregor, a Cornish man who discovered it in the Manaccan Valley. Titanium is a transition metal with the atomic number of 22 and an atomic mass of 47.867, silver in colour with a low density and high strength. Titanium is resistant to corrosion in sea water, aqua regia and chlorine.
